La patata da seme Kennebec è una varietà di patata di origine statunitense, adesso prodotta anche in Europa. Per la loro provenienza, le patate da seme Kennebec vengono anche chiamate Americane o le Kennedy, dal nome del presidente americano in carica quando è stata introdotta la varietà. La patata da seme Kennebec ha una maturazione che va dal “semi precoce” (maggio – giugno) al semi tardivo (settembre – ottobre), ed è caratterizzata da un elevata produttività e una grossa pezzatura. Questa varietà di patate da seme cresce molto bene anche in assenza di acqua; per questo motivo viene largamente utilizzata nelle coltivazioni pataticole montane. I tuberi sono di forma tondo-ovale con “occhi” profondi. Le patate hanno una buccia giallo chiara, liscia, con polpa bianca.
